Lifestyle photography is a style that aims to capture people in real-life situations. With a mixture of authentic and staged interaction with my models, I capture slices of life from a unique vantage point: the water. This style of photography is an exceptional way to showcase water activities and sports such as paddling, water skiing, jet skis, sea bobs, windsurfing, and snorkeling. It’s also perfect for advertising beaches, private shores, pools, or any water-based location.

One unique aspect of my work is how I integrate lifestyle photography for shoots for yacht charters. I often use underwater lifestyle photography to highlight the various toys available onboard, showcasing the luxurious and playful experience a charter yacht can offer. By creating a playful environment, I enable children to act naturally in a joyful mood or let adults have fun in the water, redirecting them slightly to capture the perfect picture. My approach is all about ensuring the candid moments shine through.

Snorkeling and Free Diving: A Unique Approach

Unlike traditional scuba diving setups, I rely on snorkeling and free diving for my underwater photography. This allows me greater mobility and the ability to blend seamlessly into the environment.

Being in the water with just a snorkel and fins means I am always ready for the perfect candid shot. Whether it’s a child laughing while splashing around, a family enjoying water sports, or a couple sharing a romantic moment in the sea, my gear and techniques ensure I can adapt quickly to the situation.

The Equipment I Use

Underwater photography requires specialized equipment, and I’m often asked about my setup. I use 2 Canon hybrid cameras from the R series housed in a sturdy Aquatech underwater case with a wide-angle lens on one and a more narrow one on the second. Good lighting is essential, so I always bring along powerful underwater strobes to illuminate my subjects. Using minimal equipment while free diving allows me to focus on capturing the essence of the moment without being weighed down.
